Goldie Hawn, born November 21, 1945 in Washington, DC, is the daughter of a dance school owner Laura and band musician Edward Rutledge Hawn. At only 3 years old, Goldie Hawn fell in love with dancing and started to take tap dance and ballet lessons. When she was 10, Goldie danced in the chorus of the 1955 production of “The Nutcracker.” At 19 years old, Hawn was already instructing and running a ballet school. During this time, Goldie also made her professional dancing debut in the 1964 production of “Can-Can.”
In 1967, Goldie Hawn began her acting career with a debut on the sitcom “Good Morning, World,” followed by her breakthrough role in the comedy sketch show “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In.” Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Goldie Hawn appeared in numerous films, mostly in comedy and drama. These include “The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band,” “There’s a Girl in My Soup,” “Butterflies Are Free,” “Shampoo,” “The Girl from Petrovka,” “The Sugarland Express,” “Foul Play,” and “Cactus Flower,” where Goldie Hawn received her first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Also in the 1970s, Goldie Hawn hosted her own TV shows – “Pure Goldie” and “The Goldie Hawn Special.”
In the 1980s, Goldie Hawn continued to star in various films such as “Private Benjamin,” which earned her another Academy Award nomination, “Seems Like Old Times,” “Best Friends,” “Protocol,” “Swing Shift,” “Wildcats” and “Overboard.” In 1990, Goldie Hawn starred with Mel Gibson on the action flick “Bird on a Wire,” followed by the thriller “Deceived” and the drama “CrissCross.” In 1992, she worked alongside Meryl Streep and Bruce Willis in the modern classic “Death Becomes Her” and Steve Martin on “HouseSitter.” In 1994, Goldie Hawn produced the comedy film “Something to Talk about.” She then appeared on “The First Wives Club,” “Everyone Says I Love You,” “The Out-of-Towners” and “The Banger Sisters.” In 2009, Goldie Hawn made her directorial debut in the movie “Ashes to Ashes.”
In 1995, Goldie Hawn ranked #77 in the Empire Magazine list of “100 Sexiest Stars in Film History.”
Goldie Hawn married Bill Hudson in 1976, but divorced in 1980. They have two children, who are now both actors – Oliver Hudson and Kate Hudson. She then began a relationship with actor Kurt Russell in 1983 and welcomed a son in July 1986 named Wyatt Russell.
